Director, Asset Management and Sustainability

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director Asset Management and Sustainability will have overall accountability for ongoing management of Nieuport’s primary assets including the terminal facility, IT infrastructure and apron (within leased area). The preferred candidate will drive an enhanced focus on sustainability in the management and development of our infrastructure assets.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director Asset Management and Sustainability will have overall accountability for ongoing management of Nieuport’s primary assets including the terminal facility, IT infrastructure and apron (within leased area).  The preferred candidate will drive an enhanced focus on sustainability in the management and development of our infrastructure assets.

The role requires significant collaboration with our service providers and internally with the operations team, safety officer and project management office.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and effectively implement a business plan (including associated capital and operating budget), that aligns with the company’s 1 & 5-year corporate plans, by working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Direct, control & evaluate the Facilities Management service provider (incl. IT and cleaning services) with respect to the delivery of facilities management O&M services in accordance with the O&M contract.
  • Direct, control & evaluate the snow removal service provider in accordance with the snow removal plan and contract.
  • Assess and provide recommendations on future IT infrastructure investments to support the business.
  • Establish key performance indicators and conduct a monthly review with internal teams, business partners and contractors.
  • Identify and deliver key sustainability and environmental initiatives in line with industry best practice.
  • Create and conduct benchmarking and tracking systems that supports the integration of sustainability principles in the design, construction and management of new and existing assets.
  • Recognize and investigate, communicate issues, and propose solutions relating to terminal facility, IT and apron to senior management.
  • Conduct asset need analysis of potential customers to meet their service requirements and expectations.
  • Develop action plans, provide expertise in response to existing and future customer needs, and support and advise project teams.
  • Research and review with operations/safety/planning team and implement necessary aviation standards i.e. Transport Canada, IATA/ICAO standards in the project to meet ASQ ratings, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Represent the company in a positive manner with a variety of stakeholders.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Engineering, IT)
  • Management level experience in similar role (7-10 years)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Significant experience with P3 style Facility Maintenance contracts
  • On the ground experience in managing building assets, including IT infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience with respect to implementing innovative sustainability solutions
  • An understanding of airport IT systems
  • Familiarity with aviation standards
  • Experience managing people / teams both internal and external
