Nieuport Aviation is the terminal partner at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and works with partners to support connectivity, economic activity and community wellbeing.
Unless otherwise stated, all performance information presented reflects Nieuport Aviation’s 2025 reporting period and is derived from the Nieuport Aviation 2025 Year in Review.
Our role and scope
Nieuport Aviation is responsible for the operation and management of the passenger terminal at Billy Bishop Airport. Our responsibilities include:
• terminal infrastructure and operations;
• passenger-facing services;
• certain environmental and operational activities within the terminal; and
Many broader impacts such as aircraft operations, airline emissions and regional transportation fall outside of Nieuport’s direct control.
Our focus is on:
• managing impacts within our operational scope; and
• contributing to shared solutions through collaboration.

Our operations generate environmental and social impacts through energy use, waste generation, infrastructure and passenger activity. We aim to:
• manage these impacts responsibly;
• comply with applicable regulations; and
• improve performance where operationally feasible.
This approach is guided by our Sustainability Policy.
ESG priorities
Climate and environment
Our environmental footprint is primarily linked to terminal operations. We focus on:
• energy efficiency;
• managing waste generated on site; and
• supporting environmental initiatives across the airport.
Selected outcomes:
• Approximately 140 metric tonnes of waste diverted annually from landfill through our waste diversion program (energy to waste);
• 100% diversion of waste from terminal retailers and food partners (energy to waste); and
• LED lighting upgrades to improve efficiency.
We track emissions associated with our operations. Reported results may vary due to non-recurring activities such as construction projects. A significant portion of aviation-related emissions—particularly from aircraft operations and passenger travel—falls outside of Nieuport’s operational control.
Our people and workplace
We are responsible for maintaining a safe and effective workplace. This includes:
• health and safety programs;
• employee training and development; and
• initiatives supporting inclusion and wellbeing.
Outcomes include:
• zero lost-time injuries recorded; and
• strong employee engagement and satisfaction levels.

Passenger experience and accessibility
We manage the passenger experience within the terminal environment.
Our focus includes:
• safety and operational efficiency;
• accessibility and inclusive design; and
• passenger service and support.
Examples include:
• average security wait times of approximately 1–1.5 minutes; and
• an accessibility program supporting travellers with non-apparent disabilities.

Community impact
We support and participate in community initiatives through partnerships and employee engagement. This includes:
• fundraising and charitable initiatives;
• support for local organizations; and
• participation in joint programs with partners.
Selected contributions:
• Nieuport's donation to Daily Bread provided 15,000 meals to community members
These outcomes are often achieved in collaboration with partners and may not be solely attributable to Nieuport.

Governance and ethics
Governance supports sustainability performance across the organization. This includes:
• Board oversight and committees;
• ethics and compliance frameworks; and
• enterprise risk management processes.
These systems ensure ESG considerations are incorporated into decision-making and operations.
How sustainability is implemented
Sustainability is implemented through day-to-day operational practices, including:
• infrastructure investment and upgrades;
• environmental and safety programs;
• workforce development; and
• collaboration with tenants and service providers.
Outcomes depend on both internal actions and external factors, including partner operations.
