Nieuport Aviation partners with Visions of Science to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals

From July 20 to 22, youth participating through Visions of Science spent time with Nieuport Aviation's Operations, Facilities, and Safety teams, gaining insight into the day-to-day people and job functions that keep Toronto’s downtown airport running safely and efficiently. The program combined hands-on learning, career exploration opportunities, and discussions with industry professionals to help participants better understand the wide range of careers available within the aviation sector.

Visions of Science is a charitable organization dedicated to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) equity by working alongside Black and racialized youth from low-income communities to build confidence, develop skills, and create long-term pathways into education and careers. The organization reaches more than 40 neighbourhoods across the Greater Toronto Area, with sustained engagement in 10 core communities, helping youth explore new possibilities and pursue futures in STEM-related fields.

As the terminal partner at Billy Bishop Airport, Nieuport Aviation plays a vital role in delivering a seamless and safe passenger experience. Nieuport has opened its doors in the past to youth through their Future Leadership for Youth (FLY) program, giving behind-the-scenes tours of the airport and how it operates. This partnership demonstrates a meaningful evolution of the program, further providing young people the meaningful exposure to the aviation industry and the professionals who make airport operations possible.

Building on the job shadowing experience, Nieuport Aviation will also host a career panel at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport for approximately 30 youth participants. The panel will highlight the diverse range of careers that contribute to airport operations, featuring professionals from across the industry, including pilots, operations leads, finance professionals, and more. By showcasing a variety of career paths and perspectives, the event aims to help youth see themselves reflected in the future of aviation.
