Porter Airlines settles outstanding litigation with Nieuport Aviation
In the fall of 2022, the owner of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (BBTCA) passenger terminal, Nieuport Aviation Infrastructure Partners GP, obtained judgment against Porter Airlines Inc. relating to terminal fees at BBTCA. That judgment was under appeal by Porter. Porter and Nieuport have now amicably resolved their outstanding disputes and litigation. Terms are undisclosed.

Preclearance is the next step in Billy Bishop Airport’s evolution as a vital transportation connection for Canadians, offering a convenient, easy-to-access gateway to American cities and markets for those in Northern Ontario to Canada’s eastern regions.

In November 2021, Nieuport Aviation and PortsToronto commissioned a survey of residents of downtown Toronto – living in the Waterfront, Old Toronto, and York/East York neighborhoods - on public perceptions and attitudes towards YTZ. The survey found: 87% of Toronto residents surveyed hold a favourable opinion of Billy Bishop; 85% agree that is an economic benefit for the city and local communities; 2 out of 3 Torontonians surveyed have flown out of Billy Bishop Airport; 42% of Torontonians who fly from YTZ use it for both business and pleasure travel; and support for a US preclearance facility is high (85%).

Presenting Toronto City Airport's Indigenous & First Nations Art Exhibit
In honour of the Indigenous Elders, leaders, artists and community members that have lived upon these lands, Nieuport has worked with the Bay of Spirits Contemporary First Nations Art Gallery to plan, curate and install a gallery of Indigenous artwork in the Toronto City Airport Passenger Terminal departures level corridor. It features works from artists both local to the Greater Toronto Area and across Ontario, including Ojibway, Cree and OjiCree peoples.
